This Privacy Policy explains what information Costa Rica Decoded collects, how it's used, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information we collect

  • Email address — when you subscribe to the free checklist or purchase a guide

  • Purchase information — handled and stored by Blink (our Merchant of Record), not directly by us; this includes payment details, billing address (for tax purposes), and order history

  • Booking information — name, email, and scheduling details when you book an advisory call, via our scheduling provider Acuity Scheduling

  • Site usage data — collected automatically via Squarespace's built-in analytics and any connected analytics tools (see our Cookie Policy)

2. How we use your information

  • To deliver the guide or checklist you purchased or requested

  • To send you relevant email content, including our welcome sequence and occasional updates about new guides or content

  • To manage and confirm advisory session bookings

  • To understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third parties we work with

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Costa Rica Decoded, process transactions, deliver our digital products, manage our email communications, and provide advisory services. These providers may process personal information as necessary to perform their respective services.

  • Blink — checkout and payment infrastructure for our digital guides. Blink acts as the Merchant of Record for these purchases and handles payment processing, customer invoicing, applicable tax calculation and remittance, fraud prevention, and related transaction processing.

  • Stripe — payment and payout infrastructure used in connection with Blink, including Stripe Express for merchant payouts and, where applicable, payment processing services.

  • PayPal — payment processing for Costa Rica Decoded advisory and consultation services booked separately from our digital guide purchases.

  • Kit — email list management, email marketing, subscriber management, automation, and delivery of certain free resources and communications.

  • Squarespace — website hosting, website functionality, forms, cookies, and website analytics.

  • Acuity Scheduling — appointment scheduling, intake information, appointment confirmations, reminders, and administration of our advisory sessions.

  • Google Calendar and Google Meet — calendar management, appointment coordination, and video conferencing for advisory sessions.

  • Zapier — workflow automation used to transfer information between certain services in our technology stack, such as scheduling, email, and customer-management systems.

  • YouTube / Google — embedded video content and related functionality. Your interaction with embedded YouTube content may be subject to Google's own privacy practices.

Each of these third-party providers operates under its own terms and privacy policy and may process your personal information in accordance with those policies. We encourage you to review their privacy policies directly if you would like more information about how they collect, use, store, or protect your information.

4. Data retention

We retain your email and purchase-related information for as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, and maintain business records, after which it may be deleted or anonymized.

5. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at alvaro@costaricadecoded.com.

6. International visitors

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with its own data protection framework (e.g. GDPR), you may have additional rights under that framework. We aim to honor those rights regardless of where you're located.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
