These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of costaricadecoded.com (the "Site"), operated by Álvaro Lachner ("Costa Rica Decoded," "we," "us"). By using the Site, purchasing a guide, subscribing to the free checklist, or booking an advisory session, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

Costa Rica Decoded is an independent educational content and digital product brand operated by Álvaro Lachner, based in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. We are not a law firm, immigration agency, real estate brokerage, or financial institution.

2. Digital products

Our PDF guides (individually or as the bundle) are sold and delivered through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all guide purchases. This means Lemon Squeezy — not Costa Rica Decoded — is the seller of record, handles payment processing, applicable sales tax/VAT collection and remittance, and is your point of contact for billing disputes and chargebacks related to guide purchases.

All guides are digital products delivered instantly by download. Because delivery is immediate and the product is non-physical, all guide sales are final once the download link has been issued, except where required otherwise by applicable law.

3. Free checklist and email list

The free Relocation Checklist is provided in exchange for your email address. By submitting your email, you consent to receive the checklist and subsequent email communications from us. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

4. Advisory services (Lineup)

Advisory sessions — including the Relocation Strategy Call and the Lineup Advisory Consultation — are separate, personal-service engagements booked directly with Álvaro Lachner. Scheduling, cancellation, and rescheduling terms will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Advisory sessions are professional consulting services and are not eligible for the same refund handling as digital guide purchases; refund and cancellation terms for advisory bookings will be stated separately at checkout/booking.

5. No professional advice

Nothing on this Site, in any guide, or in any advisory session constitutes legal, immigration, tax, financial, or real estate advice on which you should rely without independent verification.

6. Intellectual property

All content on this Site and within our guides — including text, design, graphics, video, and the Costa Rica Decoded name and logo — is owned by Álvaro Lachner / Costa Rica Decoded and may not be copied, redistributed, resold, or reproduced without written permission.

Purchasing a guide grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use it for your own relocation or business planning — not to resell, redistribute, or publish it.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Costa Rica Decoded and Álvaro Lachner are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, our guides, or our advisory services, including but not limited to financial loss, missed opportunities, or decisions made based on content provided.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the applicable courts of Costa Rica, except where local consumer protection law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
